Tips on Packing for Baby When You Travel

This entry was posted in Used Car Sales

 Packing for a trip may be challenging, but when you have a baby, with all of the gear you need to take with you on an extended trip, it becomes even more difficult.  Here are some tips that may help the packing go smoother when you have to pack for an infant;

If you use cloth diapers you may want to consider going disposable for your trip. Disposables are much more convenient than cloth diapers during travel; otherwise you have to plan to store the dirty diapers someplace in the car until you get to a place with running water.

For long trips, your baby probably doesn’t need a separate suitcase. Nearly everything should fit into the diaper bag.  The only other things you’ll need to pack for baby are;

  • As many disposable diapers as you’ll need en route, plus go ahead and pack an extra 10. (The extras are for unforeseen events such as diarrhea and to give you a little time to settle in once you’re there.)
  • Any medications and the prescription for each med in case you lose it, spill it, or run out
  • Medical insurance cards and your baby’s medical records
  • A baby monitor to give yourself a little more freedom of movement when he’s sleeping
  • A night light if he’s used to sleeping with one in his room

For a crib rental, once you arrive at your destination, contact Baby Rentals or Rentals in the Yellow Pages. If you are staying in a hotel, make sure to ask in advance if they have portable cribs. Other items you might want to consider renting include a high chair or other feeding seat and a playpen; many portable cribs now double as playpens.
