What Will Futuristic Cars Do?

Futuristic CarCars have changed drastically since the end of the 20th century.  We have gone from all gas powered engines to hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, and electric cars that can travel several hundred miles on a single charge.  The hybrid models not only have more than one power source, some  military transport crafts also have hybrid suspensions combining electronic wheel carriages with hovercraft like air cushions to allow the car higher cruising speeds and fuel efficiency.

We all have a picture of what cars in the near future will look like, but what about automobiles that will be built in 2050?  Based on what modern technology has done for the automotive industry, here are what some source,  predict that cars will be capable of in the future.

The cars of the future will not only have hovercraft capacities, they will also have all terrain ability to be driven off road, even over bodies of water.  On regular roadways,

Vehicles will be able to be driven sideways with all wheel steering and turn in a 360 degree radius that is no more than the size of the vehicle itself.

When driving a hybrid for long stretches on a straight road, cars will be able to tread lightly on the road during long distance travel where the air cushions will serve as the primary contact on the road, when steering or braking capacity is needed, the wheels will automatically go into a different mode, where higher traction can be maintained until the car goes on a straightway road where again, it can hover to accomplish maximum energy savings.

The futuristic vehicles that you will find on a used car dealers lot will take on a look that resembles an air craft more than a car, like something we may have seen on the futuristic cartoon, The Jetsons.

Inside the car there will be many changes, for example, more entertainment features for the driver as the vehicle will be able to be pre-programmed and a satellite will guide the vehicle, hands free.

Although most of the high-tech ingenuity of future cars has not been perfected, many prototypes are being designed and tested today.
